I’ve done it! Today is the tenth day of my cleanse, with only a few hours left to go.
I’m very proud of myself for doing this cleanse. It makes me feel strong and in control. I’ve been able to fight back cravings and take charge of my health – and hopefully my dietary life as well for the future. I won’t lie – the first few days were very hard, and I can certainly understand why so many people fail. Fortunately, I had read some really good tips on how to overcome those tough moments in Master Cleanse Secrets – which I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone considering on doing the Master Cleanse! Still, I did the Master Cleanse as Stanley Burroughs originally intended, and did not cheat even once!
Now that I’ve done this once, I can see it playing a part in my life again in the future. Some people do it three or four times a year to help keep themselves clean of pollutants, chemicals and other toxins that we are exposed to in our daily life. I think I will try doing it at least twice a year for the next few years.
I do feel immensely healthier. My cravings for junk food have nearly gone away and I can’t wait to have some kale and brown rice (really!). I do say “almost” because today my mother was munching on a bag of potato chips in front of me and I was tempted to snag a few!
However, I also know that if I were to sit down and eat a bag of potato chips tomorrow (my first day off the cleanse), it would not be a pleasant experience. This is because after you finish you cleanse you need to gradually habituate your body back to solid foods. If you sit down and eat a big meal the day after, you will likely have some serious gastrointestinal problems and possibly pain.
So tomorrow I can stop drinking the lemonade (which I am getting very tired of), and drink fresh squeezed orange juice instead mixed with water. Day two after the cleanse, I move onto eating broths and soups, and by day three I can incorporate some vegetables and salads into my diet. The key is to go slow, and also incorporate probiotics into your diet as well to repopulate your intestines with good bacteria.
Tomorrow morning I will weigh myself to get my final total of weight loss, but as of this morning I had lost about 9 1/2 pounds which I’m pretty happy about as well. The key is to keep it off, however. I should expect to regain two or three pounds pretty quickly as my body begins processing solid foods again, but with diet and exercise, I hope to keep my weight around the 121 lbs. range for a while.
This has been quite a journey – and it’s not quite over yet. I’ll be updating the journal tomorrow, and again in a week, to let people know what happens in terms of my readjusting to solids and also in terms of my weight gain. After that, I expect I’ll be posting useful articles and tips, as well as journals of any future Master Cleanses I do. If you are interested in reading this information, you may want to sign up to my newsletter at the right.
Thanks everybody who has read this for following my journey, and I hope you have success as well if you decide to try the Master Cleanse yourself down the road!
Tip of the Day: If you ever feel like giving up on the Master Cleanse, try committing to doing just one more full day and see how you feel then.
